Hello there!
Oh my, do I have a treat for you today! I really enjoy doing the business spotlight posts and I am really excited for this one.
Do you have a love for plants or aspire to have a green thumb?
District 6 Market is the place for you if you do! I had the great pleasure of interviewing Kristen about their family business. Kristen is very kind, helpful, and always hard at work. She helped customers and worked while we chatted. She loves interacting and educating customers. Providing exceptional customer service is a big priority for her and their business. She says most customers turn into friends.
Educating her customers is one of the best parts of owning the family business. If you are new to caring for plants or want to get started Kristen would love to help you learn and grow. Attending yearly conferences allows her to keep herself educated to help you.
They have a special greeter named Pete. Pete stayed with my son and I the whole time. I think he would have gotten in the car if I let him. I’m sure my son feeding him his snacks had something to do with it.
You can see him below waiting for us patiently, while we look through one of the greenhouses.
The 5 greenhouses are full of plants that they grow on site. The varieties they offer include over 450 annual plants, 350 perennial plants, 100 herbs and vegetables. With those varieties you are sure to find several plants to fall in love with. I know I found many I wanted to take home, but I think my husband would kill me. He does not share my enthusiasm for plants. I did sneak a few in the house. They are small so maybe he won’t notice ;)
I asked Kristen her favorite plant and she said, "ones that sell", (jokingly). She couldn't decide because she says every plant has a purpose or quality that makes them great.
I could have spent the whole day capturing all the beauty the greenhouses held. The quality and variety are amazing. If you haven't check them out, you are missing something great in your life. They have everything you need; somethings you don't but will love. Like the cute mushrooms below. From large to teeny tiny, and handmade from another small business, they are a perfect way to add a little flare.
I have been a fan watching on Facebook for some time now. Last Fall my daughter’s school had a mums fundraiser through District 6 Market. They were gorgeous, full, and much larger than I anticipated. If you have a love for mums, you should definitely get yours from District 6 this Fall!
This family business doesn’t just grow beautiful, quality plants in their greenhouses, they also offer landscape and hardscape services. They recently finished a beautiful waterfall and now they are working on an outdoor kitchen. If you head on over to their website, you can see the amazing work they can do for you.
You can look forward to great things from this family business. They offer workshops and host vendor fairs throughout the year.
You can find a vendor fair for Mother's Day in May on the 6th and 7th. There will be food trucks, 20 to 30 vendors handpicked by Kristen, live music on Saturday from 10 to 2, and plenty of great gifts for mom.
They host 2 more vendor fairs in September and December, so keep an eye out.
You can be part of their awesome fertilizer program, brown to green. Buy a jug of their fertilizer for $24.95 and get free refills. Kristen will be there when you refill to help you with any questions you have.
You can also reach out on social media or their website to get help too.
You can find their website here: GARDEN CENTER & OUTDOOR LIVING SERVICES (district6market.com)
