Dino Imagination Portrait with Calvin

Hello there!

Thanks for stopping by! I would love to tell you about this amazing little man I photographed and the awesome session we had!

If you didn't know, back in March, I ran a giveaway for Imagination Sessions. I had 3 winners and Calvin's mom Kristen entered Calvin in the giveaway and won!

When I went to meet Calvin and his family, Calvin was not too sure about me hahaha. He was so shy toward me. He even hid and peeked around the corner at me while mom and I talked. He eventually came over and cuddled up to mom giving a little bit of a chance to talk to him. And this is how most first-time interactions go with kids. Once they see me a few times and know how fun I am they loosen up! That is why it is so important for me to have consultations and meet before the session.

When it got to the session day, Calvin was still a little shy. Stuck right to mammas hip. However this time I had my secret weapon, my daughter. She had been begging me to learn photography and wanted to be my assistant for the day. Boy was I glad I agreed! Calvin opened up to her and he was shy no more!

Here is a little peek at the fun these two had together:

We had so much fun during this session! Serenity and Calvin became great pals! After Serenity got him out of his shell, he was ready to try anything. You can tell by this collage that he was having a blast!

He loved the spinning teacups at the park. I do not know how many times we ended up going back to the teacups to spin. He even got mom to spin!

When we planned the Imagination Portrait, we thought it would be a cool idea to have him running with a herd of migrating dinosaurs. The first thing I do during an Imagination Session is make sure I get what I need to create the Imagination Portrait. So the first thing I did was have Calvin run to capture the right image. I got a few great ones. However, when I started to create the Imagination Portrait I remembered, Calvin was acting silly at the park. When I looked through the images I had to use this one:

It made the Imagination Portrait perfect. His little silly personality came through and it looks like he belongs there with the dinosaurs.

Looked how great the Imagination Portrait looks finished!

Doesn't it look like so much fun! He was having a blast and so were we. Everyone, mom and I included, laughed a lot.

It was an absolute privilege to photograph Calvin and meet his sweet family. Thank you Kristen and Nick for letting me capture your little man's fun personality.
